Allison Benning

Allison has been going to Strike Zone Sports since she was 10 years old, and has been training under co-owner Sara Moulton since she was 13. This is Allison’s third year working at Strike Zone giving lessons, and fourth year working at SZS summer camps.

Allison is entering her senior season as a pitcher/utility at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL. During her junior season at UNF, she was named the UNF Athletics Female Newcomer of the Year, 1st Team All-Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Conference, ASUN Tournament All-Tournament Team, a 2-time ASUN Pitcher of the Week as well as the first player in ASUN history to ever win Pitcher and Player of the Week in the same week, D1 Softball National Pitcher of the Week, 3rd Team NFCA All-Southeast Region and the only member of that region from a non-Power 5 program, and a 643 Charts 2nd Team All-American based on Wins Above Replacement (WAR). She also set UNF records for single season HRs (16), slugging percentage (.707) and BAA (.185). Allison led the ASUN conference in numerous hitting categories such as HRs, slugging percentage, OPS (1.135) and RBI (46), and was top-10 in the conference in batting average (.347), hits (52), on base percentage (.428), and walks drawn (22). Pitching, Allison was in the top 5 of the ASUN in BAA, innings pitched (173.2), strikeouts (200), wins (19) and saves (3), and also had the 6th-best ERA (1.89). Allison competed her first two years at the University of Oregon, where she was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team in 2022.

Allison graduated with honors in 2021 from Stillwater Area High School in Stillwater, MN, and was a four-time letterwinner on the softball and tennis teams, and lettered twice in basketball. During her senior softball season, Allison was named the Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year and Pioneer Press East Metro Player of the Year, 1st Team All-State, All-Conference, All-Section 4AAAA and a finalist for Ms. Softball. She was also the MN Gatorade Player of the Year in 2020 as a junior; All-Conference, All-Section, All-State Honorable Mention and 3rd Team All-Metro in 2019 as a sophomore, and All-Section in 2018 as a freshman. Allison helped lead Stillwater to three consecutive MSHSL State Tournament appearances in Class 4A, including a state championship in 2018, runner-ups in 2019, and quarterfinalists in 2021 (no 2020 season due to COVID), and was named to the All-Tournament Team in 2018 and 2019. Allison played club ball locally with the Minnesota Magic for three years, and then spent her last two club ball seasons playing with Top Gun Academy out of Kansas City, MO.

Allison will graduate in the spring of 2025 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication with a focus on Multimedia Journalism. In addition to giving lessons at SZS, Allison has also been coaching locally within the Stillwater Area Fastpitch Association and St. Croix Boom Fastpitch for the past three years.
