Allison Benning was a Strike Zone Sports client her whole life, and trained under Sara Moulton. This is Allison’s fourth year giving lessons at Strike Zone. 

 

Allison attended Stillwater Area High School, and graduated in 2021. During her time with the Ponies, she was the Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year, Pioneer Press East Metro Player of the Year, a Ms. Softball finalist, and named team MVP as a senior. She also won MN Gatorade Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2020. 

 

Allison recently graduated from the University of North Florida with summa cum laude honors. As a senior, Allison made Atlantic Sun Conference history by being the first player awarded ASUN Player of the Year, ASUN Pitcher of the Year, ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and ASUN Tournament MVP all in the same season. Allison also received several national awards, including 2nd Team All-American by Softball America and D1 Softball, which makes her the first All-American selection in UNF’s D1 history. She was also named the D1 Softball Mid-Major Player of the Year. Alison lead UNF to its first NCAA tournament, and was the winning pitcher of the Ospreys’ first NCAA tournament win in program history. During her senior year, Allison’s name popped up among statistical leaders nationwide. She finished her season batting .414 with 60 hits, 50 RBIs, 19 HRs, 74 BBs (leads the NCAA), a OBP of 0.614 (4th in NCAA), and a .876 slugging percentage. In the circle, Allison had a 25-7 record (6th-most wins in NCAA) with a 1.68 ERA (11th in NCAA), 179 Ks and a .181 BAA. Allison’s name will be etched into the UNF Softball D1 career and single-season record books. Her career records include slugging percentage (0.790), OBP (0.533), HRs (35), ERA (1.79), BAA (0.183), and K/7 (7.71). She also holds single-season records for slugging percentage, OBP, HRs, total bases (127), BBs, BAA, and pitching victories. 

 

Allison is very passionate about coaching and enjoys being able to grow the game of softball in Minnesota. In addition to lessons at Strike Zone, Allison helps coach the St. Croix Boom 12U team.
